NES Fircroft has partnered with an industry-leading Power Cabling client to source CVs for review, in preparation for the role of Site Manager for their high-profile onshore cabling project based in Dunbar.

The role will initially be hybrid, with a full-time site-based position expected in 2025. The Site Manager will oversee civils and cabling elements, monitoring the site to ensure efficient project execution within HSE parameters.

Please note: This position has been assessed as inside IR35 (CIS, PAYE, or Umbrella only).

Right to work in the UK is essential.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Manage the delegated budget from the Project Manager, ensuring delivery of installation scope within a customer project.
  • Oversee installation risks, promote transparency, and collaborate with the Project Manager to manage risks effectively.
  • Handle all aspects of the installation phase, including start-up, planning, preparation, execution, and closure, as well as engineering and testing.
  • Ensure installation work complies with applicable laws, regulations, and HSE procedures.
  • Specify subcontractors for installation, ensuring quality and HSE standards are met.
  • Ensure installation is carried out efficiently, within time, resource, and cost constraints.
  • Monitor changes and additional work, managing variations and claims from subcontractors and third parties.
  • Quantify and report changes and claims to the appropriate project or department manager.
  • Maintain and monitor the installation budget.
  • Create and update the installation schedule.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
  • At least three years' experience as a Site Manager on medium-complexity construction projects, with demonstrable successes and lessons learned.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with HVDC Converter Stations is a plus.
  • Understanding of Terms and Conditions typically used in construction contracts.
  • Experience in civil works, installation, and/or commissioning activities.
  • Recognized health, environment, and safety certifications and training.
  • Driven, structured, capable of leading teams, goal-oriented, adaptable, and able to work under stress.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both blue-collar workers and senior management, clients, and stakeholders.
