Site Engineer
We are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to work alongside the Senior Management team delivering a major construction project based in Sunderland.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurate setting out of civil engineering works on site (earthworks, drainage, foundations, steel frame installations, external works, etc.).
- Interpret and work from construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Assist the Site Manager and Project Manager with daily site coordination and supervision.
- Carry out site surveys and as-built surveys using appropriate surveying equipment (Trimble).
- Ensure works are carried out to the correct dimensions, levels, and tolerances.
- Assist in compiling QA/QC documentation, including check sheets and inspection records.
- Liaise with subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and the design team.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment, ensuring all instruments are in good working condition.
- Identify any design issues or clashes early and raise them proactively with the site team.
- Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture.
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum HND/HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer on similar large-scale civil engineering or industrial projects.
- Proficient in using surveying equipment (total stations, GPS, levels).
- Strong technical knowledge of setting out procedures and construction methods.
- Good understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
- CSCS card (essential).
- SMSTS/SSSTS (preferred but not essential).
- First Aid at Work (preferred).
