POSITION SUMMARY:

The Shop Technician Level II will operate in the Houston Shop performing a variety of "hands-on" technical support to the production, assembly, and disassembly of Rotary Steerable tools, receive and clean dirty tools, perform general shop maintenance and duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be accountable for the following functions and responsibilities:
  • Open assembly work orders and submit to inventory communicating specific build requirements
  • Assembly & disassembly of steering bodies per relevant procedures
  • Communicate fitment issues noticed during assembly and communicate with Shop Manager
  • Communicate buildability / shortages with management
  • Knowledge of company assets and which to pull from to assemble tools (new/used/modified)
  • Knowledge of torque specs for final RST assembly
  • Perform final assembly of all size RSS Tools
  • Operate torque unit
  • Loading and unloading of RSS tools, assets, or packages from delivery trucks
  • Properly identify customer owed assets versus rental assets
  • Familiarization with classifications of inspections
  • Proper crating of tools for international deployments
  • Training of technicians on how to properly use tools (both internally and external customers)
  • Proper handling of inbound shipping paperwork
  • General shop maintenance & duties:
  • Cleaning all vices, torque units, air compressor, etc. when necessary
  • Maintain daily/weekly/monthly inspections on all equipment and forklifts
  • Movement of equipment and racking when required
  • Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within physical constraints of the job.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

To apply you must meet the following criteria:
  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience as a skilled maintenance mechanic with experience in torque unit operations, overhead crane, forklift, mud motors, bearing pack assembly and hand tools
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions
  • Ability to work in shifts and overtime (weekends and some holidays included) as required, be flexible in working requirements as the needs of the business dictate
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and timelines in a fluid environment, bearing high levels of responsibility and accountability while keeping the best interests of the business in sight. An attention to detail, able to prioritize workload but be flexible to adjust to changing deadlines and work independently with little supervision or as a team
  • Ability to maintain the highest standard of personal conduct in performing all duties and the ability to work well with all levels of employees or customers while being service oriented and having a friendly demeanor
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in the English Language fluently. Have good communication skills, both verbal and written. Be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and operate basic office equipment, such as a keyboard, mouse, and copier/printer/scanning machine
  • Attention to detail, neat and organized, always keeping safety first
  • Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk while wearing the appropriate Personal Protection Equipment when required (i.e. safety glasses or side shields, closed toe shoes, steel-toe footwear, etc.); sit and/or stand for long periods of time; 8 - 12 hours a day, frequently lifting up to forty-five (45) pounds without assistance and anything over forty-five (45) up to one hundred (100) pounds with assistance. Frequent carrying, pushing, and pulling of heavy objects over one hundred (100) pounds with proper equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
