We have an immediate opening for a reliable Shop Manager to work in our Portland, OR shop. This is a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience. Our chosen candidate will be eligible for our employee benefits package which includes medical/dental/vision, PTO, and 401k. Essential Skills, Duties, & Responsibilities:
• Extensive knowledge of heavy equipment repair and maintenance procedures. Must possess strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.
• Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, DOT, and local regulations that affect service operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-know, etc.
• Scheduling and managing a team of technicians.
• Strong communication skills.
• Provides technical support for technicians when necessary.
• Checks progress of repair orders throughout the day and oversees shop activities.
• Monitors technicians' daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records.
• Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks. Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
• Ability to perform a variety of administrative tasks including accounting for all documents; ensuring none are missing and all are processed correctly
• Accurately tracking maintenance records.
• Computer competent; attention to detail and accuracy; excellent math and management skills.
• Crew scheduling.
• Ability to identify processes needing improvement, recommend improvements, and successfully execute solutions.
• Ability to coordinate multiple group efforts within the company to achieve objectives.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Talent Development: Maximizes potential and improves overall performance.
• Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: Accurately assesses problems and effectively and efficiently arrives at solutions.
• Work closely with VP of maintenance to promote a culture of safety and accountability. Qualifications:
• High school diploma
• 5 years of management/supervisory maintenance experience; or equivalent combination of
• education and related experience
• Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions; correspondence; memos and various operating or procedural manuals. Ability to write routine reports and/or correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and/or group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to make decisions consistent with business practices and in the best interest of the Company within the scope of the job responsibilities.
• Other Skills and Abilities: Proficiency with related hardware/software systems as needed to fully execute the duties required.
