Job Summary:
The Shop Foreman is responsible for managing the daily operations of the shop, supervising staff, ensuring quality control, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to optimize shop processes to enhance productivity and service quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hire, train, supervise, and motivate shop staff while providing guidance and performance feedback.
- Ensure repairs are performed efficiently, correctly, and in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
- Oversee all repair work to ensure it meets company quality standards and minimize rework or comebacks.
- Maintain high service standards to ensure customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
- Prepare department budgets, manage shop inventory, and coordinate with ownership or general management.
- Ensure the shop adheres to all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and safety guidelines.
- Provide technical guidance and support to technicians when needed.
- Monitor job progress, meet deadlines, and resolve operational challenges as they arise.
- Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety procedures and ensuring adherence to company policies.
- Identify and implement new processes and procedures to improve shop operations and efficiency
- May work in workshops, outdoor construction sites and would need to be mobile.
- Will be involved in BIT inspections and audits.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in diesel truck and heavy equipment maintenance.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing major vehicle components.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Experience working with DOT and OSHA compliance standards.
- CDL Class A license preferred.
Salary Description
$85,000 to $105,000 per year
