We are looking for an Engineering Shift Manager to join our Manufacturing Operation in Gadbrook.

The responsibilities for this role are critical to ensuring the smooth operation of the manufacturing site.

Responsibilities in more detail:
  1. Minimizing Machinery Downtime: The Engineering team plays a crucial role in minimizing machinery downtime through proactive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and swift response to unexpected breakdowns. Ensuring equipment is operational is vital to maintain production schedules.
  2. Improving Performance: The team should continually seek opportunities to enhance equipment performance without compromising product quality. This involves process optimization, upgrades, and data-driven improvements.
  3. Engineer Engagement: Keeping the engineering team engaged and motivated is essential for productivity and innovation. This includes fostering a positive work environment, providing training, and recognizing achievements.
  4. Asset Care Programme: Leading and supporting the Morrisons asset care programme, focusing on asset maintenance, cost reduction, and adherence to best practices.
  5. Hands-On Approach: Being actively involved in repairing and optimizing equipment to set an example and address issues promptly.
  6. Maintenance Coordination: Coordinating maintenance priorities with the Maintenance team to prevent disruptions and ensure efficient resource allocation.
  7. Crisis Incident Management: Preparing to handle crisis incidents, accidents, and near misses, including investigations and corrective actions.
  8. Discipline and Grievance: Enforcing discipline and grievance procedures to maintain standards and address misconduct.
About you

Alongside the ability to work at pace, you will need:

  • Qualifications to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent), ONC mechanical/electrical engineering, or BTEC level 3 in mechanical & electrical/electronic engineering
  • A proven track record in an engineering and fault-finding role in an FMCG environment (ideally food industry)
  • Experience in people management and delivering results through a team
  • Understanding of HACCP principles and ideally IEE 18th edition wiring regulations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Assertiveness and decision-making ability
  • A proactive attitude and strong work ethic
