The Sheriff Record Specialist assigned to the Tax Unit provides collection efforts for delinquent personal property tax. This role plays an integral part in providing compliance support for the MCSO, which is mandated by the Constitution, Arizona Revised Statutes, Federal Statutes, and other local ordinances. This position specializes in researching ownership, preparing, and processing documents and case management throughout the tax collection process.

Education
•  High School Diploma or GED Experience
•  Two (2) years of experience performing office or administrative duties. OR

Combined education and experience qualifications
•  Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Other requirements
•  In order to be considered for employment with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, successful candidates must not have a revoked or suspended driver's license.
•  Training that may be provided on-the-job: FEMA NIMS - IS100 and 700; Safety; Payroll; PREA.
•  Ability to type at least 35 words per minute as a condition of employment. Typing certificates obtained or available on the internet are not acceptable for verification of typing speed.

•  Learns, comprehends, and maintains extensive working knowledge of Arizona Revised Statutes that govern delinquent personal property taxes.
•  Researches and reviews ownership records, analyzes information, and applies critical thinking to process delinquent personal property tax accounts for billing.
•  Contacts mobile home parks to verify ownership and location of personal property.
•  Communicates with delinquent personal property tax owners with incoming and outgoing telephone contact.
•  Reviews account information with Motor Vehicle Records and cross references with other County stakeholders.
•  Provides notification and submits legal documentation to various government entities.
•  Calculates and prepares sale documents.
•  Enters account information into Sheriff's Office tax database.
•  Provides case management for records of delinquent personal property tax accounts.
•  Prepares and files deputy worksheets, affidavits, and sale folders.
•  Assists the public in person or by telephone; responds to questions that are simple to complex in nature.
•  Maintains a thorough working knowledge of and compliance with statutory requirements, legal terms, and Office policy.
•  Understands modern business office practices and uses assigned office machines and equipment responsibly and according to policy.
•  Assists with assignments in the division as needed (e.g., emergency, absence coverage).
•  Interacts with the public, law firms, courts, other law enforcement agencies, and other related parties.
•  Prioritizes job assignments and works independently to ensure timely completion of job tasks.

Work occurs primarily indoors working in MCSO jail facilities with various staff and all classifications of inmates.
