The primary responsibility of this position is to work with the division's SharePoint site coordinator to design, develop, and implement applications for the Corporate Franchise Tax Division SharePoint pages; and to perform other related duties that support the department's strategic plan.

The Corporate Franchise Tax Division at the Minnesota Department of Revenue is looking for a student worker for part-time work (20-30 hours) during school and up to full-time during school breaks. Employment will commence on or around June 4th, 2025 and continue through December 31, 2025 with possibility of extension.

Candidates should be available to work between twenty and thirty hours a week. Work hours are flexible and may be adjusted to fit class schedules, but must occur between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

This position may count towards internship credit with your university. You will need to work with your university to determine if this position will qualify as an internship.

This position is eligible for telework to applicants who reside in Minnesota or a bordering county along the Minnesota state line. Effective June 1, employees living within 75 miles of the office will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. For those who live 75 or more miles away, the requirements are currently being assessed for each agency.

Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate student (in second or third year) in Communications, Computer Science, or Information Technology, or related degree may be substituted.

Applicants who meet the above experience requirements will be further evaluated based on the following:
  • Knowledge of SharePoint or other intranet/web-building platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications: SharePoint, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Skilled in creating, editing, and formatting materials for various audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving ability, with a focus on analyzing issues, researching solutions, and making data-driven recommendations for improvements.
To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker, you must be a student enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate program or planning to enroll within three months. If you are enrolled at a credit-granting institution, you must carry at least six semester credits; if enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers on credit per class, you must be taking two or more classes per semester. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification from prior to appointment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate program with SharePoint, Management system, or Project management emphasis.
  • Experience using SharePoint 365 Cloud environment.
  • Experience with virtual collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, video conferencing, and WebEx.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadline.
Physical Requirements

Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, and portable printer.
