Our teachers create friendly learning environments where students are engaged and develop a love for learning. Our teachers establish strong, positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. They participate in teams within their own school building as well as district-level teams. The Elementary Media Maker Space Teacher will meet with classes weekly in the building Media Center to engage students in collaborative, inquiry-based, activities related to literature. This teacher will also support students in selecting books for check out.

Responsibilities:
  • Employ Interactive Real Aloud techniques that model literacy strategies and encourage engagement with literature.
  • Develop, model, facilitate & assess cooperative inquiry and problem-solving activities in response to text.
  • Incorporate technology into lesson design.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Work collaboratively with District Media Specialist to develop and implement Media Maker Space Curriculum.
  • Encourage and support a culture of literacy within the school.
  • Maintain an organized & engaging Media Center environment for students.
Qualifications:
  • Current Michigan teaching certification (required).
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations pertaining to the role.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and families.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, teachers, and staff.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Foster cooperative social behavior through games and group projects to assist children in forming strong, positive relationships with other children and adults.
  • Discuss students' strengths, progress, and concerns with parents.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
