Job Title: Wastewater Sewer Engineer - Pump Station Design
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Wastewater Sewer Engineer with a strong focus on Pump Station Design to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the construction and operation of wastewater pump stations that efficiently transport wastewater to treatment facilities. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in sewer engineering, hydraulics, and project management to ensure the pump stations operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pump Station Design:
- Design and develop wastewater pump stations, including the selection of pumps, control systems, wet wells, and electrical components.
- Perform hydraulic calculations to determine optimal pump sizing and system performance.
- Design systems to accommodate peak flow rates, head pressures, and ensure reliable operation during all conditions.
- System Analysis:
- Conduct site assessments, including evaluation of topography, access, and environmental considerations to determine the best locations for pump stations.
- Analyze existing sewer infrastructure and recommend improvements or upgrades to integrate with new pump station designs.
- Engineering Documentation:
- Prepare detailed design documents, including schematics, technical specifications, and drawings for pump stations and associated infrastructure.
- Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and federal wastewater and environmental regulations.
- Project Management:
- Lead and coordinate pump station design projects, including liaising with contractors, clients, and other engineering teams.
- Oversee the construction and installation of pump stations, ensuring the project stays on schedule and within budget.
- Conduct site inspections and quality assurance to ensure installations meet design specifications and safety standards.
- Maintenance and Optimization:
- Assist in the development of maintenance schedules and procedures for pump stations.
- Provide technical support during commissioning and operational phases of pump stations.
- Propose upgrades and modifications to enhance system efficiency and longevity.
- Safety and Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure all designs adhere to safety and environmental regulations, including odor control, noise mitigation, and wastewater treatment requirements.
- Implement measures for emergency overflow management and ensure backup systems are in place for continuous operation.
- Client Interaction:
- Collaborate with clients to understand their wastewater management needs and provide technical recommendations.
- Provide project updates, reports, and presentations to clients and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering (or related field). Master's degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in wastewater engineering, with a focus on pump station design or related infrastructure projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, EPANET).
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pump selection, and wastewater treatment systems.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, control panels, and electrical systems for pump stations.
- Ability to conduct hydraulic modeling and perform calculations for wastewater systems.
- Certifications: PE (Professional Engineer) license preferred, but not required.
