Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a SETA Research Analyst to support position contingent upon reward for a new long-term contract with the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E , specifically within the Office of Strategic Capital (OSC). This position will provide critical technical and analytical support to assess the viability and risk of government-backed funding to commercial technology firms across sectors such as BioTech, Energy & Minerals, and Space. Location: ThePentagon and Crystal City, Virginia - Hybrid Remote Trajected Start Date: August, 2025 Responsibilities for the SETA Research Analyst: Conduct research-driven analysis to assess the state-of-the-art and state-of-play of emerging technologies relevant to OSC investment decisions
Evaluate technical risk, market viability, and adversary capabilities to inform loan decisions and mitigate risk to government returns
Develop and deliver data-driven visualizations and briefings using tools such as R, Stata, MATLAB, Excel, or Python
Support and advise senior DoD leadership on technology trends, investment strategies, and risk assessments
Collaborate with subject matter experts to integrate findings into actionable recommendations
Participate in technical working groups and contribute to the development of technology roadmaps and meta-analyses
Maintain awareness of cutting-edge developments in relevant commercial and defense sectors
Qualifications for the SETA Research Analyst: Active SECRET clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI eligibility
Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited institution
5+ years of experience in BioTech, Energy and Minerals, or Space industries
Demonstrated ability to synthesize technical findings and communicate them effectively in both written and verbal formats
Experience in project management within R&D or emerging commercial technology environments
Proficiency in systems engineering principles and integration of complex systems across multiple domains
Strong skills in statistical analysis and data visualization using tools such as R, Stata, MATLAB, Excel, or Python
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time
Compensation: Salary Range: $145,000 - $180,000 (commensurate with experience and education) Benefits: Cigna medical, dental, vision, 401(k), 20 days paid time off, 11 federal holidays, and sick leave as required by law This job opens for applications on 06/02/2025.
