The job opportunity
OFM's Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) is seeking a skilled and motivated ServiceNow Engineer to join our Enterprise Applications Development team. This position plays a critical role in supporting and enhancing the ServiceNow platform, a key enterprise system used across Washington state agencies.

As a ServiceNow Engineer, you will design, develop, test, implement, and maintain applications and web services on ServiceNow and other cloud-based platforms such as Workday. Your work will support vital statewide functions, including financial management, budgeting, legislative and financial impact analysis, and constituent relationship management-serving both the Office of Financial Management and the Office of the Governor.

This is a highly technical and collaborative role that involves contributing to the development of secure, scalable, and innovative solutions that benefit all divisions across the agency. Duties

What you will work on
  • Instruct junior level developers on how to write complex back-end code.
  • Identify candidate systems for development on the ServiceNow Platform.
  • Develop training to support software developers and business analysts learning to develop on the ServiceNow platform.
  • Analyze and determine impacts of requested modifications to IT applications and systems supported by this position or as assigned.
  • Design, develop, test, implement, administer, or maintain agency and business unit web applications that interact with databases, web services or data warehouses from software requirements specifications and other related business analysis artifacts using C, C , JQuery, .NET Frameworks and MS-Office products.
  • Conduct peer code reviews on products developed by junior or peer positions.
  • Solve highly complex IT problems, including defining & analyzing the problem, identifying & testing solutions, choosing & implementing the best solution, documenting the changes in the agency configuration management tracking system (Azure DevOps, or other similar systems) and evaluating the outcome.
  • Escalate problems or issues to the next higher level when available resources have been expended or a decision outside this position's level of authority is required.
  • Architect ServiceNow solutions that align with Business and IT needs.
  • Develop and implement integrations with existing Applications.
  • Ensure solutions meet security and business needs.
  • Implement approved solutions for multiple business partners and IT groups.
Qualifications

What we need you to bring
Required Qualifications:
  • Six (6) years (full-time equivalent) of progressive information technology experience such as consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications, directing projects; providing customer or technical support in information technology.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology program or a closely related field. Two (2) years of closely related qualifying experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
  • Two (2) years (full-time equivalent) of professional experience in ServiceNow development.
Desired Qualifications:
  • One (1) or more years (full-time equivalent) of professional experience developing Microsoft application security, authentication, auditing, and exception handling protocols using the Microsoft Enterprise Libraries.
  • One (1) or more years (full-time equivalent) of professional experience developing jQuery JavaScript libraries and or Angular J.
  • ITIL Service Management Foundation Certification.
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD).
  • A Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Management Information System, or closely allied field (Engineering/Mathematics).
