Title: Service Technician Classification: Exempt/Full Time Reports to: Sales and Service Manager Location: Engineering Technology Corporation (Salt Lake City, UT) Date: 05/23/25 Job Summary: The Service Technician's primary responsibility is to install, commission, service, and support Engineering Technology Corp's (ETC) equipment at customer's facilities. This may be done alone or as part of an installation team and travelling will be required up to 35% of the time. While not performing installations, responsibilities include wiring, testing, and troubleshooting electrical panels at ETC's facility, as well as assisting with mechanical assembly to gain knowledge of ETC's equipment. This role is also responsible for maintaining equipment after installation with spare parts, repairs, and/or upgrades. This includes travelling to the customer's facility to diagnose equipment and provide quotes for service and repair based on the results. The Service Technician will report directly to the Sales and Service Manager but will frequently work with ETC's Electrical and Mechanical Production groups. Responsibilities:
  • Perform equipment installation and commissioning alone or as part of an installation team
  • Perform equipment diagnosis and troubleshooting
  • Provide technical details and quotations for spare parts, machine upgrades, and service
  • Provide customer technical support via telephone, email, or onsite visits
  • Track sales leads and contacts using sales software and spreadsheets
  • Provide input for sales budgets and forecasting based on sales leads
  • Provide design input to engineering and manufacturing to improve products based on customer interactions
Qualifications:
  • 2 Year Degree in Electronics or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 3-5 years' experience working hands-on with electronics and industrial machinery. This can include wiring, troubleshooting, or testing of electronic systems
  • Familiarity with PLC's, servo motors and drives, and wiring standards preferred
  • Customer service or sales experience preferred
  • Ability to read electrical schematics
  • Ability to write troubleshooting instructions and business correspondence
  • Ability to create sales quotations for spare parts, machine upgrades, and equipment service
  • Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, professionalism
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Self motivated and organized
