Job Description

GCI's Service Delivery Provisioning Administrator II work closely with Delivery Engineers to build and deliver a variety of services across the company's network. Provide support for the execution of Engineering designs to build and troubleshoot services on the wireless data/IP and core network environment, MPLS, carrier ethernet and data/IP network systems, voice switch systems, and TDM/SONET networks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AT ALL LEVELS:
  • Provide delivery support for the company's core IP, MPLS, carrier Ethernet, Wireless Data/IP, switch voice, and TDM/SONET network systems in accordance with design criteria and quality goals.
  • Execute designs and plans provided by Engineering detailing specific changes across the company's network.
  • Work with various technical support, engineering, and internal business groups to develop and implement coordinated installation, upgrading, testing, and troubleshooting of new network elements and administering of multiple vendor systems.
  • Closely review planned and unplanned changes to network infrastructure.
  • Work service orders for circuit turn-up and change requests across IP/Ethernet, Voice switch and TDM/SONET networks.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to complete needed tasks on variety of company initiatives for network growth
  • Provide support for the turn-up various network elements to support network growth.
  • Performed required SLA mandated testing for service delivery
    • Commitment to on-going skill development to assist in network optimization.
    • Ability to work in a team environment on maintenance bridges with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to accurately communicate information virtually (i.e., Teams), over the phone, and in-person in a clear and concise manner to a range of audiences.
    • Ability to accurately read, write, and respond to routine business correspondence such as emails, chat messages, policies, procedures, reports.
    • Ability to accurately articulate technical information and activities.
    • Ability to effectively document procedures and technical processes.

    • Broad-based knowledge of and ability to maintain equipment typically found in Telecommunication Core networks.
    • Familiar with all test equipment common to a core central office.
    • Knowledge of telecommunication protocols, availability, redundancy, reliability monitoring, signaling, and testing.
    • Ability to work in stressful situations and maintain focus on proper troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.
    • Experience managing large network platforms.
    • Understanding of standard wide area concepts such as routing, multicasting, broadcasting, duplex and half duplex, reliability and testing, high availability, security, and standards.
    • Ability to install, configure, and support the company's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and internet systems, or a segment of a network system.
    • Knowledge of IP Telephony and Multiprotocol Label Switching technology.
    • Experience with Remedy, Metasolv, Stat seeker, Cacti preferred.
    • Ability to configure and troubleshoot Nokia, Cisco, Brocade, and Juniper IP/MPLS routers and switches, ARRIS cable modem termination systems, Sand vine policy traffic switches, Incognito DHCP servers, and Palo Alto Networks Firewalls.
    • Ability to use technical applications common in a telecommunications environment.
    • Demonstrated working experience in the use of Visio.

Additional Job Requirements:

This is an intermediate level position within the discipline demonstrating broad knowledge and proficiency in areas of responsibility. Performs moderately complex tasks and job duties, receiving general instruction on routine work and new assignments. Executes basic equipment installation, modifications, test, and turn up under moderate supervision with latitude for independent judgment. Supports senior technicians.

Additional Competencies:
  • Comprehensive understanding of telecommunications installation, modifications, and test procedures.
  • Able to recognize and identify possible issues with network designs.
Minimum Qualifications:

Required: A combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree in networking or a relevant field.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of combined technical support experience working with network platforms, testing, routers and/or switches in a customer service, LAN/WAN Networking, Telecommunications, Wireless Data/IP networks, data communications, telephony topology systems environment, or related background.
Preferred:
  • Cisco CCNA, Nokia NRS-I, Juniper JNCIA, or equivalent.
  • Cisco CCNP, Nokia NRS-II, Juniper JNCIP, SCTE DEP, or equivalent
  • Cisco CCIE, Nokia SRA, Juniper JNCIE, SCTE IPEP, or equivalent.
  • Telecommunications experience.
  • Other relevant telecom industry or job specific certifications.
DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:
  • This position may require access to reliable transportation for occasional travel between retail store locations, offices, worksites, or other locations as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work is primarily sedentary, requiring daily routine computer usage.
  • Ability to work shifts as assigned, work in standard office/home office setting, and operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to accurately communicate information and ideas to others effectively.
  • Physical agility and effort sufficient to perform job duties safely and effectively.
  • Ability to make valid judgments and decisions.
  • Available to work additional time on weekends, holidays, before or after normal work hours when necessary.
  • Must work well in a team environment and be able to work with a diverse group of people and customers.
  • Virtual workers must comply with remote work policies and agreements.

Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the core business hours to respond to the immediate emergency.
