About the Team

The centralized Workplace Investigation Team (WIT) is a part of the DoorDash People Business Partner team and is responsible for the prompt, thorough, and objective investigation of workplace concerns and complaints raised by DoorDash employees primarily in the United States and Canada.

About the Role

The Senior Workplace Investigations Business Partner (Sr. Workplace Investigations BP) is a key member of the WIT. This role will effectively conduct and manage internal investigations from intake to resolution while ensuring that employees are treated fairly and with respect, and that cases are investigated and brought to resolution in a timely manner. This role will provide advice and counsel to HR, Employee Relations, and managers to ensure the consistent application of policies and procedures across the organization. The Sr. Workplace Investigations BP reports to the Senior Manager, Workplace Investigations on our Workplace Investigation Team in our People Team organization and partners closely with Employment Legal, HR Business Partners, Employee Relations Business Partners, Internal Fraud, and other functions within the People Team.

  • Lead sensitive workplace investigations across different business units; conduct interviews of complainants, subjects, and witnesses; make objective recommendations based on your findings; and draft clear investigative reports with your summary of findings.
  • Prepare, maintain, and track all case-related documents and communication in the designated case management system.
  • Apply independent judgment when providing guidance to HR/ER and managers in the resolution of workplace concerns. You'll keep up to date on relevant employment laws and regulations.
  • Develop effective relationships with cross-functional partners such as the Employee Relations, Human Resources, and Employment Legal teams and enjoy being a trusted resource.
  • Utilize investigation data and trends to provide strategic insights that inform leadership decisions, mitigate risks, and improve workplace culture.
  • Consult with in-house employment attorneys as needed to ensure compliance and consistent interpretation of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement of Workplace Investigations and participate in cross-functional projects as needed.

  • You have a BA/BS and 8+ years of relevant experience in workplace investigations, human resources, employee relations, and/or employment law including 5+ years of solid and traceable experience conducting complex investigations into employment law-related matters that will withstand legal scrutiny in multiple jurisdictions.

Nice to haves:
  • Juris Doctorate or other advanced degree in a relevant field
  • Experience identifying legal issues
  • AWI-CH, SPHR/SHRM-SCP, or CFE certification
  • Previous tech/startup experience
