Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Wetland Specialist, you'll bring valuable expertise and a problem- solving mentality to a number of different projects. Core responsibilities include:
- Conduct wetland delineations in accordance with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual and applicable Regional Supplements, with a primary focus on the Eastern Mountains and Piedmont (EMP) and Atlantic & Gulf Coastal Plain (AGCP) regions.
- Perform forest stand delineations and urban tree assessments.
- Undertake environmental studies related to the Chesapeake Bay watershed and conduct research on threatened and endangered species.
- Develop technical reports and mapping products using CAD, and contribute to proposal writing efforts.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and schedule while delivering high-quality results.
- Coordinate with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support and guide junior team members through mentoring and hands-on training.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting and project management.
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Botany, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and processes in Virginia, Maryland, DC, and West Virginia, particularly related to land development.
- Proficient in field techniques such as wetland delineations, plant identification, soil sampling, and conducting threatened and endangered species studies.
- Team-oriented with a desire to collaborate effectively.
- Comfortable with a mix of office and fieldwork across all seasons and willing to travel regionally.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
