Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Utility Locator with at least 3+ years of field experience in underground utility locating. The ideal candidate has expertise in electromagnetic (EM) and ground-penetrating radar (GPR) detection, excellent map-reading skills, and a safety-first mindset. As a Senior Utility Locator, you'll be responsible for accurately detecting, marking, and documenting underground utilities, collaborating with excavation teams, and ensuring compliance with 811 One-Call laws and industry regulations. This role offers a high level of autonomy, a company-provided work vehicle, and the opportunity to train and mentor junior locators as part of our leadership pipeline. Key Responsibilities Utility Locating & Detection Perform expert-level underground utility locating for gas, electric, water, sewer, fiber optic, and telecom lines. Operate advanced EM locating equipment and GPR scanners to identify both metallic and non-metallic utilities. Verify utility placements by analyzing blueprints, GIS data, as-builts, and underground mapping records. Accurately mark and document utility locations using industry-standard methods (paint, flags, stakes, and digital logs). Ideal Candidate Profile 3+ years of hands-on experience in utility locating (private and/or public). Advanced knowledge of EM locating and GPR technology. Proficient in reading utility maps, construction drawings, and GIS databases. Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards and underground damage prevention laws. Experience with 811 One-Call ticketing systems and construction site coordination. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in fast-paced environments. Strong verbal and written communication skills for client and team interactions. Ability to work independently and in team settings. Valid driver's license & clean driving record (CDL is a plus). OSHA 10/30 Certification (preferred but not required). NULCA Certification (preferred but not required training assistance available).
