Summary:

The Senior Upsell Designer is a key role within our landscape maintenance and construction company, responsible for managing the upsell/design pipeline and supporting our commercial account management teams. This position requires a high level of expertise in CAD design, landscape construction estimating, and landscape construction sales, along with the ability to mentor and manage other designers. The Senior Upsell Designer will collaborate closely with Senior Commercial Account Managers to help estimate projects that do not require designs and ensure that the design backlog aligns with customer needs and expectations.

This role is designed to drive growth through effective leadership and sales while ensuring the seamless delivery of high-quality landscape designs that meet both customer needs and company goals. The Senior Upsell Designer will play an essential role in expanding the company's portfolio by identifying upsell opportunities and supporting the team in delivering exceptional landscape solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Upsell/Design Pipeline Management:
    • Oversee the design backlog and ensure the timely completion of designs that meet both commercial account managers' and customer requirements.
    • Work closely with the Director of Estimating to prioritize design tasks and ensure smooth workflow within the team.
    • Coordinate with the commercial account management team to identify upcoming design needs and align resources accordingly.
  • Support Commercial Account Managers:
    • Act as an advisor to Senior Commercial Account Managers and their teams, particularly on estimating landscape construction projects that do not require a formal design.
    • Provide guidance on project scope, budget estimates, and any technical requirements to assist the sales process.
  • Sales and Upsell Goals:
    • Meet individual sales targets set for upsell designs and services, contributing to overall company sales growth.
    • Identify upsell opportunities within existing customer accounts and collaborate with the sales and account management teams to pursue them.
  • Team Management & Mentorship:
    • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of landscape designers, ensuring they are supported and guided in their work.
    • Provide ongoing training and development to the design team, ensuring high standards of design quality, customer satisfaction, and efficiency.
    • Ensure that the design team is aligned with company goals and objectives, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Collaboration with Estimating and Sales Teams:
    • Work closely with the Director of Estimating to review and refine project estimates, ensuring accurate pricing for both design and construction.
    • Collaborate with sales teams to align design concepts with customer preferences, budgets, and expectations, ensuring alignment between design vision and project delivery.
  • Customer Relations:
    • Interact with clients when necessary to ensure the design process meets their needs, answering any design-related questions or concerns.
    • Assist with proposal presentations, showcasing design concepts, and upsell opportunities to enhance the customer's landscape.
  • Project Follow-up and Quality Assurance:
    • Track project progression and provide feedback to ensure that designs are executed as planned.
    • Work with field teams to ensure proper implementation of designs, providing troubleshooting and support when necessary.
Qualifications:

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • CAD Design Expertise: High-level proficiency in landscape design software and CAD programs.
  • Landscape Construction Estimating Experience: In-depth understanding of landscape construction processes, material costs, and project estimations.
  • Proven Landscape Sales Experience: A track record of successful landscape construction sales and upselling, with the ability to identify new opportunities.
  • Team Leadership: Experience in managing, guiding, and mentoring a team of designers, fostering growth and collaboration.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders, ensuring clear expectations and solutions.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong ability to think critically and resolve issues related to design, estimating, and project execution.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and ensure deadlines are met while maintaining high-quality standards.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in landscape design, estimating, and construction sales.
  • Experience in a leadership or managerial role, with a demonstrated ability to manage and mentor a team.
Working Conditions:
  • Primarily office-based with occasional visits to project sites. Project site visits may be either indoors or outdoors in areas that are dusty, dirty, in the rain and muddy.
  • Full-time position with standard office hours; may require occasional evenings or weekends.
