Job DetailsWe are on the hunt for a Senior Underwriting Manager to join our fast-paced and innovative team. This permanent position provides an exciting opportunity to lead a team of underwriters and play a pivotal role in our company's success. You will be responsible for managing the underwriting process for large casualty insurance lines and ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of casualty underwriting, E&S, loss trending, and risk management principles.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage the underwriting process for large casualty lines, ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain underwriting guidelines, procedures, and standards.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of underwriters, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with various departments to develop and implement strategic underwriting initiatives.
- Analyze loss trending data to identify risk factors and make informed underwriting decisions.
- Conduct regular reviews of underwriting activities, providing feedback and guidance to improve performance.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes, ensuring the company's underwriting practices remain competitive and compliant.
- Manage relationships with brokers and clients, providing exceptional service and resolving any issues that arise.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in large casualty underwriting.
- Proven experience in a leadership or managerial role, preferably within an underwriting team.
- Strong knowledge of casualty underwriting principles, E&S, and loss trending.
- Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to various stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using underwriting software and tools.
- Professional designations such as CPCU or ARM are considered a plus.
