Job Title: Senior Town Planner

On behalf of our client, a respected and growing consultancy, we are looking to appoint an experienced and driven Senior Town Planner to support their continued expansion in their office located in Buckinghamshire.
This is a pivotal role within a team that combines the expertise of Surveyors, planning specialists, and rural consultants. The right candidate will have a strong background in planning and the confidence to lead projects, develop new business, and help shape the future direction of planning services within the firm.
About the Role:
This position offers the opportunity to take a lead role in delivering a wide range of planning-related services. You will be responsible for managing projects from initial appraisal through to final submission, while helping to grow the client base and supporting junior colleagues as the team develops.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
Promotion of land through the local plan process
Carrying out strategic site assessments and planning advice
Preparing and managing pre-application proposals
Overseeing planning application submissions and consultant coordination
Delivering rural, residential, and commercial development schemes
Advising on diversification and rural development initiatives
Managing change of use cases and prior notifications
Handling a variety of planning appeals
Candidate Profile:
We are seeking a professional with a practical and solution-focused mindset who can work well both independently and as part of a wider team.
Essential criteria:
Demonstrable experience in complex planning applications and land promotion
Background in residential and commercial project work
Confident managing multiple priorities and client expectations
Strong initiative, self-motivation, and commercial awareness
Comfortable contributing to business development and securing new work
Desirable:
At least 5 years post-qualification experience
RTPI membership (not essential if relevant experience is in place)
