JOB SUMMARY
Works under minimal direction to provide advanced communications skills for cabling and phone installations connected to complex voice and data networks. This position will install, set up, and maintain telecommunications equipment such as phones and analog lines, internet infrastructure, and related devices at customer premises or in offices, including testing the functionality of the installed equipment to ensure proper service delivery. This is a 100% on site position and selected candidate must reside in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. Hours are Mon-Fri 8-5pm.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
  • Education
    High School Diploma Or GED and
    Completion of related technical or military training courses.
  • Experience
    6 years of verifiable experience in installation and repair of voice and data structured cabling system in an enterprise environment. Must be able to manage a crew of 3 to 5 installers to perform daily projects assigned by the management team.
  • Licenses and Certifications
    (DRIVERS) DRIVERS LICENSE Must possess valid State of Texas Driver's License and maintain acceptable rating for driving university vehicles as prescribed by University of Texas System guidelines. Upon Hire
JOB DUTIES
  • Installs and maintain the cables used by UTSW network communications.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs loss of service to complex voice and data networks.
  • Should be conversant with EIA, BICSI, NEC or TIA standards.
  • Performs QA/QC work performed by contractors and other UTSW employees.
  • Adheres to safety regulations and company policies in all aspects of work.
  • Adheres to best practices regarding firestop, labeling, pathways, and cable support standards.
  • Provides OJT instructions to installers or other team members to create an efficient workflow and enhance team knowledge and skill set.
  • Completes projects and communicate status on regular basis.
  • Prepares and reports on UTSW van mileage log and fuel purchases.
  • Manages and maintains inventory for parts, tools, and material.
  • Will interpret Division 27 specifications, service orders, and competent in reading construction drawings.
  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing 30 lbs or more.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
