Position Overview Power your Future as a Telecommunications Engineer - Fiber SME. We are seeking a mid/senior level Telecommunications Engineer who is a subject matter expert in fiber optic solutions as they relate to substation and distribution power systems.
In this role, you will lead the design and development of complex fiber-based telecommunications systems that support critical power infrastructure. Our Telecom Engineers focus on fiber network architecture, splicing schematics, and routing paths, producing engineering designs, BOMs, and construction packages tailored to the client and adhering to industry standards and codes.
Responsibilities - Research and create engineering designs of complex telecommunications solutions with a strong emphasis on fiber optic infrastructure, preferably in the T&D power utility industry.
- Develop and deliver designs and full construction packages for telecommunications networks/solutions using Fiber, Microwave, SONET MUX, MHz, Radio, FAN, Circuits, Power, Switches, Routers, TCP/IP, and subtending devices.
- Create and redline Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), fiber splicing plans, interconnect diagrams, Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) layouts, and tower structural drawings to support fiber deployments.
- Manage and prioritize multiple fiber telecom projects simultaneously, meeting strict deadlines and evolving client needs.
- Develop and document detailed project plans for programs involving cross-functional teams and challenging requirements.
- Collaborate with facilities, engineering, and systems administration teams to ensure successful integration of telecommunication systems into power infrastructure.
- Use Adobe Pro, Excel, Visio, and MS Office suite to create detailed documentation and designs.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 5+ years of experience in telecommunications, including fiber optic systems, with experience in Substation or Distribution environments (or similar considered).
- 5+ years of experience in researching and designing complex fiber-based telecommunication solutions.
- 2+ years of project management experience with a proven ability to manage tasks under tight deadlines.
- Proven track record of success and delivering results (references requested).
- Strong sense of methodology, process, and metrics in managing functions and projects.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills conducive to team development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exposure to Bentley MicroStation is a plus.
- Mut be able to pass a NERC level background check.
- Travel to client sites may be required.
The expected compensation range for this position is based upon several factors, including but not limited to education, qualifications, prior relevant work experience and work location.
Compensation: $50/Hr. Min - $110/Hr. Max
