Our client, an investment firm, is seeking a Senior Technical Data Analyst to join their team in Los Angeles, CA.
Responsibilities: - Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, document and analyze business requirements, translating them into technical specifications.
- Develop comprehensive documentation, including process flows, data models, data dictionaries, use cases, technical requirements, and user stories, ensuring clarity for development teams and stakeholders.
- Perform complex data analysis and create visualizations to deliver actionable insights that support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build data strategies that support asset management initiatives.
- Evaluate and improve existing data workflows, architectures and systems to optimize data quality while increasing efficiency and performance.
- Analyze and document the integration of various enterprise systems (data warehouse, financial reporting, portfolio management systems) and provide recommendations for technical improvements.
- Collaborate closely with developers to implement the requirements, develop test plans, conduct user acceptance testing (UAT), and provide necessary guidance to testers during QA process.
- Communicate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding of requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
- Partner with data engineers to design and implement robust data pipelines and models aligned with business objectives.
- Identify data-related issues, assess the severity and conduct business impact assessments to inform data quality improvement initiatives.
- Implement corrective measures for inaccurate data values and other issues, while addressing their underlying causes.
- Develop data quality guidelines and best practices for end users to reduce the likelihood of future issues.
- Champion data governance efforts, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, and presentations to gather input, align priorities, and communicate progress.
- Stay ahead of industry trends in data analytics and provide strategic insights to inform innovation and competitive advantage.
Qualifications: - 6 - 10 years of experience in a technology-oriented environment; ideally in a private equity, financial services, or investment management environment.
- Experience with business analysis tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, MS Visio, Excel) and database/querying tools (e.g., SQL).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and their data services.
- Experience in software development lifecycles (Agile, Waterfall), project management, and working with cross-functional teams.
- Preferred experience with data governance and data quality tools.
- Preferred experience with version control systems (e.g., Github) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps).
- Nice to have certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate).
- Strong background in technology solutions, data architecture, and systems integration, with a deep understanding of private equity operations and workflows.
- Must have experience working on large scale projects as well as handling and prioritizing day-to-day operational requests from various stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; able to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders at all levels ranging from C-level executives to operational analysts.
- Excellent organization and documentations skills, with the ability to design and facilitate a group process, elicit contributions, and stimulate.
- Successful track record in understanding and negotiating needs and expectations of multiple stakeholders.
