SSC plays a critical role in advancing the United States's space capabilities, delivering cutting-edge solutions to protect and enhance national security. SSC/SZBC specializes in highly classified Space Domain Awareness (SDA) systems, Defensive and Offensive Space Control (DSC/OSC) capabilities, and space test range assets to support the Department of Defense's (DoD) current and future operational needs. As a leader in space technology, SSC/SZ-BC is responsible for the development, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment of mission-critical systems spanning the entire acquisition life cycle. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Support Space Acquisitions and Engineering: Provide technical advice and assistance for projects at any acquisition life cycle stage, including advanced technology, concept development, and integration. Advise on Cost, Schedule, and Performance: Assist the government with acquisition efforts, ensuring efficiency in program execution. Develop and Revise Acquisition Documentation: Draft and update Joint Capabilities Integrated Development System (JCIDS) and acquisition documents, including strategies, requirements, evaluations, and reports, using the latest government standards (e.g., MIL-STD). Provide Technical and Programmatic Reports: Prepare status reports on individual programs or the entire portfolio in coordination with government program managers. Identify and Mitigate Risks: Recommend and implement acquisition process improvements, risk mitigation plans, and programmatic changes as needed. Support the government's risk management program. Monitor Program Execution: Track schedules, assess acquisition implementation, identify requirement shortfalls, and update acquisition reports based on program baselines. Support Technical Engagements: Advise on and participate in technical meetings, design reviews, conferences, working groups, and other engagements. Assist with contractor and customer interface coordination. Mission Protection and Compliance: Provide insight and solutions for mission protection, operational challenges, and technical anomalies. Develop impact analyses, compliance audits, and readiness reviews. Command and Control (C2) Integration: Support ongoing and advanced Command and Control (C2) efforts, ensuring integration with classified portfolios and liaising with Space C2 and Enterprise Ground Services (EGS) program offices. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Expert in design and development of entire space systems, with a specific focus on spacecraft bus and payloads Expert in multiple space operations and space control-related fields, including but not limited to orbitology, navigation, sensor employment, communications, optimization, and command and control At least 10 years' experience in this type of position or program is required. MA/MS degree required; however, a BA/BS degree is acceptable if the candidate possesses at least 12 years of experience in this type of position or program. The Materiel Leader may also waive the MA/MS requirement. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not supervise the work of others. WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to operate a computer and other standard office equipment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, 80%. TRAVEL: Little if any travel is required. This is a Full-Time, Salary, Exempt position.
