Systems Engineer Technical Lead Location: Chantilly or Alexandria, VA
Work Type: Full Time Job Description: Gridiron is looking to hire a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the modernization of a geospatial product supporting mission critical operations. The candidate will provide leadership to invigorate technical innovation and must be willing to drive smart change to support a collaborative and innovative culture to provide our customer with optimal solutions that meet their strategic goals. A successful candidate will have experience with the Microsoft technology stack, AWS services, and related software and networking design and implementation. Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities will involve taking a leadership role in system assessment, recommendations, and solution implementation. Become a subject matter expert (SME) for the baseline, with the ability to communicate the system's features, architecture, roadmap, and limitations to a variety of audiences
Decompose requirements, use cases, and need statements into epics and features with clearly defined acceptance criteria that will be assigned to agile development teams
Take part in migration of a legacy systems to model cloud-based architectures, leveraging modern cloud native technologies.
Ensure the security, reliability, and maintainability of internally facing applications and services
Ability to clearly describe and analyze a problem and to articulate a solution
Provide hands-on technical support to the team (systems engineering, software development, testing)
Execute analysis of alternatives (AoA) and prototypes to determine the design of new system features and capabilities
Participate and provide subject matter expertise in technical exchange meetings and other customer or stakeholder forums
Manage the system requirements and maintain technical requirement documents
Create and communicate design artifacts to the team to ensure applications and services are built to support the business and architecture objectives
Provide subject matter expertise and support agile development teams in the continuous integration of epics and features Qualifications
Requires a BS in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or closely related discipline and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience; OR 10 years of experience in lieu of degree
Must possess an active Top Secret Security Clearance with ability to obtain SCI post hire
DOD 8570 Certification (Security+ or equivalent or higher)
Experience with Microsoft .NET ecosystem tools such as VB .NET , C , C , Visual Studio, WPF
Firm understanding of object-oriented design , data structures and design patterns
Experience designing and developing UI/UX that simplify complex workflows while keeping designs flexible
Experience working with large code bases
Experience writing testable software
GIS experience and knowledge of roaster and imagery
Experience with System (hardware, software and networking) Design and Architecture
Experience developing a technical roadmap
Ability to lead and prioritize systems engineering and architecture requirements
Database experience such as PostgreSQL
Web Application and application workflow experience
Experience preparing presentations and leading technical exchange meetings
Excellent communication skills
Experience briefing stakeholders at all levels
Knowledge of Systems, Architectural, SW Development and SW Sustainment methodologies and practices
Proficient in software development projects or software integration projects in a service-oriented environment (Cloud, SOA, Web-Services) or virtualization environment.
Experience with AWS architectures and technologies
Familiar with Amazon Web Services (S3 Buckets, EC2, Reserved Instances, etc.)
Familiar with Git/GitLab or other source code control tools
Familiar with System Engineering documentation creation (VDDs, diagrams, etc.)
Familiar with team collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence) Desired Qualifications:
Experience leading systems engineering support for geospatial products
Experience writing, maintaining, and presenting architecture diagrams
Microsoft certification(s)
AWS certification (e.g. Solutions Architect, Developer, DevOps Engineer) Clearance

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $140,000-$170,000 (Compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, skills, education, certifications, seniority, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.)
