Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer Responsibilities of the Senior Systems Engineer: McLane Advanced Technologies is seeking a results-oriented, self-motivated Systems Engineer to support both systems engineering tasks, as well as day-to-day management of an IT service desk for a Department of Energy (DOE) contract onsite in Albuquerque, NM. The Senior Systems Engineer will: Lead systems engineering activities supporting the sustainment, modernization, and integration of NNSA mission-critical IT systems. Oversee daily operations of an IT service desk, ensuring timely incident resolution and user support. Architect, implement, and maintain enterprise IT infrastructure (Windows Server 2019/2022, RHEL 8/9, VMware, Hyper-V, Cisco Hyperflex, AWS/Azure). Ensure compliance with NNSA and federal cybersecurity and IT governance standards (NIST, DOE directives). Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineers, developers, government stakeholders) to deliver secure, reliable systems. Develop and document IT policies, procedures, and system configurations to support operational excellence. Automate system administration tasks using scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash). Monitor system performance and security, analyze logs, and generate compliance and performance reports. Maintain accurate IT asset inventories and update network topology/configuration records. Mentor and guide junior engineers and service desk staff to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or IT operations, preferably in federal or national security environments. Demonstrated expertise in virtualization, hybrid cloud, and enterprise IT infrastructure (VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, Azure). Strong background in cybersecurity and compliance (NIST, DOE/NNSA directives). Experience managing or leading technical teams and collaborating with government stakeholders. Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash). Excellent communication skills, including technical documentation and presentations. Active DOE Q or DOD Top Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain). Relevant certifications (e.g., VMware VCP, MCSE, AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, Security+/Network+, ITIL/ITSM, Linux+ or RHCSA) highly preferred. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment with complex network and security requirements.
