Riptide Technology is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support Research and Development (R&D) work at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington DC. Come join a team of diverse, multidisciplinary information technology experts providing Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems at the Space Systems Development Department of the NRL. This Senior Systems Engineer will focus the efforts of multi-faceted teams as they strive to improve Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) for US Naval Missions. Responsibilities The Systems Engineer will lead the development and documentation of systems architecture concepts, plans, implementations, and operational analyses for current and planned programs/projects in direct support of space and ground support systems research and development efforts.
The Systems Engineer will conduct analyses of technical data packages for completeness and compliance in accordance with established program technical review readiness criteria. These data packages may include technical reports, schedules, analysis reports, design specifications, briefings, design review data packages, drawing packages, design review minutes and action item responses, test plans and procedures, and test reports. The Systems Engineer will analyze test and evaluation planning efforts and provide recommendations for conducting test and evaluation of systems. The Systems Engineer will also conduct technical reviews and audits for assigned systems as well as develop and maintain concept plans, white papers, and Concept of Operations (CONOPS) documentation. Required Qualifications: Experience in the systems engineering sciences of satellite and communications systems, system development and integration, and multi-INT data production and fusion, with a primary focus assessing and demonstrating the effectiveness of new concepts and ideas for systems in achieving particular mission goals, formulating overall design concepts, developing criteria to establish the baseline for advancement of state-of-the-art engineering efforts as well as reviewing and assessing overall progress in the development effort phases, resolving technical challenges that can occur due to dynamic changes in characteristics, approach, criteria, and requirements, and integrating stakeholder requirements and multiple design approaches while addressing overall program risk, cost, and schedule constraints. Demonstrated ability to Plan, organize and execute mission related advanced system planning for assigned missions or program areas. Conduct continuous analysis of present and future capabilities for assigned areas; establish requirements, ground rules, and assumptions for future programs; and initiate changes to achieve objectives of programs.
o Generate and plan new concepts, methods and techniques which can provide a significant technical advantage, operational impact, or breakthrough in the assigned area.
o Advise and justify the best feasible approach to be taken for each solution proposed. o Formulate and recommend specific work requirements, priorities, and resource allocations necessary to accomplish long-range plans for the assigned areas. Ability to develop system flow-down requirements specifying top level system requirements and their flow down relationships with individual subsystems. o Utilize a broad knowledge of specialties within the engineering discipline to assure system integrity by establishing compatibility between equipment, other subsystems, and components. Provide overall leadership and direction for pioneering innovative Research and Development (R&D) efforts to address previously unattainable capabilities and characteristics. Education and minimum years of Experience:
PhD from an Accredited University and 7 years experience; OR Master's degree from an Accredited University and 10 years experience; OR B.S. Degree in Mathematics, Engineering or Computer Science from an Accredited University and 15 years experience; Security Requirements This position will require U.S. citizenship and an active DoD TS/SCI clearance.
