We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with experience in traffic signals, ITS technologies, or related fields with experience in full stack development and deployment to join our growing team. This is a hybrid role, ideally suited for candidates based on the East Coast who can collaborate with both remote and in-person teams.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and enhance Blue-Band's Integrator-AI platform, focusing on ITS applications, real-time data processing, edge computing, and supporting cloud-based services.
Ability to work on novel solutions
Integrate with various transportation technologies such as: traffic signal controllers, dynamic message signs, embedded hardware, road side units, sensors (LiDAR, cameras, radar), and communication protocols (e.g., NTCIP, SDLC, MQTT, Flatbuffer) into our software ecosystem.
Architect and develop scalable, high-performance software solutions that improve transportation analytics and traffic management systems.
Work with cross-functional teams, including product managers and field engineers, to refine software capabilities and ensure compatibility with ITS deployments.
Troubleshoot and optimize software performance in real-world transportation environments.
Contribute to DevOps and deployment strategies, ensuring seamless software updates and cloud-based integrations.
Handle tier 2 technical support requests
Research and development of new technologies and protocols for implementations
Write technical documentation
Required QualificationsTechnical Skills
Proficient reading and understanding engineering documents and specifications
Strong understanding of low-level communication fundamentals such as TCP/IP, UDP, WebSocket, DNS, cellular, serial, L2 switching, IP addressing, VPNs
Proficient using and navigating Linux distributions.
Proficient using command line tools such as: SSH, cURL, text editors, and more
Capable of self-solving most technical issues with minimal assistance.
Ability to write technical documentation for internal and public use (e.g. UML diagrams, instructions, specifications)
Proficiency in programming fundamentals/concepts such as: design patterns, data structures and algorithms, systems design, time/space complexity, memory
Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Python, C, C (preferred), or Golang and ability to learn new languages as needed
Experience with, and operational understanding of, ITS technologies such as traffic signal systems, detection systems, and other industry technologies
Knowledge of cloud computing (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and edge computing frameworks.
Understanding of APIs and real-time data processing.
Relational Database proficiency: query construction, data types, and indexing
Experience with DevOps tools such as: Docker, scripts (Bash), git
Strong understanding in software security and reliability for mission-critical applications.

Ability to collaborate with transportation engineers, system integrators, and end-users.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into real-world solutions.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachlors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or have equivalent experience.
Experience with traffic signal controllers (Econolite, McCain, Siemens, Yunex, QFree etc.).
Familiarity with vehicle detection technologies (LiDAR, video analytics, radar).
Understanding of V2X communications and connected vehicle ecosystems.
Experience deploying software solutions for Departments of Transportation (DOTs) or smart city projects.
