Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer. In this pivotal role, you will have the opportunity to design substation protection and control projects for electric utilities, covering voltage ranges from 12kV to 500kV. This field is rapidly evolving, particularly with the integration of renewable energy into electric systems. You will apply your expertise in digital logic design, as well as AC and DC circuits to execute essential electrical projects.
Location: Candidates must be willing to relocate or currently reside in one of the following offices: Orlando, FL; Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Houston, TX.
Hybrid Work Schedule: Expect a balance with 2 to 3 days a week in the office.

What You Will Gain: - Experience in interfacing with local and national utility clients
- Exposure to a wide variety of projects, from distribution to transmission voltages
- Involvement in comprehensive electrical power calculations
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including substation, telecom, and civil structural professionals
Your Responsibilities Will Include: - Designing relay one line and three-line AC schematics, as well as DC protection schematics
- Creating detailed panel layouts and wiring designs
- Developing Bills of Materials according to design criteria
- Conducting quality control checks on wiring design
- Providing full project lifecycle support, from initial concept through design and implementation
- Offering construction support and ensuring compliance with electrical safety codes
- Collaborating with design teams to produce detailed project drawings
This role requires adherence to quality control and safety standards while maintaining project scope, schedule, and budget. You will be part of a collaborative team of engineers, designers, and technicians committed to delivering outstanding results.
Are You the Right Fit? - A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field, with a minimum of four years of experience in substation protection and control design (senior-level) or eight years of experience (lead-level)
- A track record of successfully executing substation protection and control projects.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with internal teams and clients
- Adept at reading and creating substation protection and control drawings
- Ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to lead and inspire others
- Self-motivated with strong analytical skills and problem-solving capability
- High competence in computer software relevant to the field
- Willingness to travel to project and client sites as required
Additional Qualifications: - U.S. Citizenship and ability to pass a DOE background check
- Engineer Intern (EI or EIT) certification
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience in conducting quality control for small-scale substation projects
- Familiarity with CAD tools
- A Master's degree in a related field
- Field testing and commissioning experience

Pay Range: $85,150.00 - $153,925.00.
