About the Role - We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our Edinburgh Office. This role is ideal for someone with significant experience as a Senior Structural Engineer within a consultancy environment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in one of the UK's leading private engineering consultancies, providing integrated solutions for a range of public and private clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing UK-based projects in accordance with UK Building Regulations and other relevant standards, across sectors such as industrial, residential, retail, commercial, and healthcare.
- Liaising with and leading design team members to achieve coordinated design solutions that meet client objectives.
- Conducting structural assessments and inspections of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
- Performing analysis and design using software such as Tekla Structural Designer and Tedds.
- Maintaining quality and consistency of technical output, including drawings and reports.
- Managing multiple projects, large and small, with attention to detail.
- Preparing high-quality technical reports, including structural surveys.
- Demonstrating effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Applying Eurocodes and relevant design codes and standards.
- Promoting the company internally and representing Fairhurst at external networking and social events.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered or near Chartered status (MICE or MIStructE).
- Experience across various construction types and building sectors.
- Strong report writing, communication, and numerical skills.
- Previous UK consultancy experience.
- Full clean driving license.
