Responsibilities include:
- Participate in and/or lead the development of project design criteria and energy-efficient designs.
- Develop analysis models and communicate with the architect and other members of the project design team for coordination of design.
- Review cost estimates in the design phase of the project.
- Perform construction administration activities such as responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals and shop drawings, and directing contractors.
- Assist in creating a sheet list/cartoon drawing set at the beginning of a project that incorporates required plans and typical details.
- Assemble a complete set of calculations.
- Ensure consistency between project scope and specifications; assist in writing project-unique specifications.
- Set up models and debug typical analysis projects.
- Compute load requirements and material stress factors to determine design specifications.
- Assist project managers with work plans for each phase and monitor execution.
- Deliver projects on time and on budget, identifying scope creep as needed.
- Manage client relationships and expectations, and develop relationships with architect/consultant/contractor counterparts.
- Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications.
- Train and mentor new structural engineering graduates and interns.
Work from home permitted up to 3 days per week.
Travel: 5 to 10% within Northern California
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering with concentration in structural engineering, or related field and five years of experience as a Design Engineer, Staff Engineer, Project Engineer, or related role.
- Must have 5 years of experience with design of concrete (including pre-stressed or post-tensioned), steel, masonry, and wood structures.
- Development of technical approach and design criteria for projects.
- Development of analysis model using SAP.
- Use of AUTOCAD and MATHCAD.
- Development of construction documents.
- Must have coursework, training, or experience with nonlinear analysis, finite element analysis, MATLAB, and REVIT.
- Minimum GPA 3.75 for Master's degree in relevant fields.
Required License/Certification: P.E. License
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The salary range for this position is $131,418-$134,950, 40 hrs/week.
