Under the general direction of the Manager, Statistical Solutions and Modeling Section, the Senior Statistical Data Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing a data use strategy that is in keeping with the most cutting edge statistical theory and statistical coding methodologies for the Economic and Statistical Research Bureau. The incumbent provides technical leadership, analytical expertise, and consulting and mentorship to the section and bureau. Works with the Senior Designer/System Engineer and Senior Designer/Data engineer to maximize the use of various enterprise data sources and data stores by pairing the available data with advanced machine learning methodologies, big data manipulation functions and statistical programming methodologies using both Structure Query Language (SQL) and Statistical Analysis Software (SAS). The position provides services which encompass the Information Technology domain of Software Engineering.

Working Conditions
  • This position is eligible for limited remote-working within California based on departmental guidelines and operational need. FTB has a minimum in-office requirement of four days per week for all positions including those that are eligible for telework.
