Senior Staff Writer

FedWriters is building a team to support NAVSEA's communications and public affairs operations at the Washington Navy Yard. As a Senior Staff Writer (Internal), you will create feature articles, news products, and editorial content for the NAVSEA workforce throughout the Washington Navy Yard and global facilities while developing effective internal communications that keep employees informed and engaged. This position is contingent upon contract award Work Schedule and Location: On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm at the Washington Navy Yard, 1333 Isaac Hull Avenue, Washington, DC. Responsibilities Authors feature and straight news writing products and provides editorial support directed to the NAVSEA workforce within the Washington Navy Yard and/or its facilities across the globe. Products include but are not limited to: leadership communications to the workforce, employee profiles, newsletter content, general interest email communications to the workforce. Consults with appropriate subject matter experts to ensure information is presented accurately. Qualifications Required Qualifications; Minimum of 10 years of experience in defense acquisition or other federal appropriation/authorization matters Bachelor's of Arts/Science degree in English, Communications, or related field Secret security clearance is required Preferred Qualifications: Experience providing direct support to senior leaders in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment Experience in communication strategies and materials that support and promote engagement with internal and external stakeholders Experience to manage small- and large-scale projects that contribute to a larger strategic communications plan Experience to manage competing priorities under strict deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail Experience with NAVSEA, Congress, the Navy and Department of Defense FedWriters is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability/vets.
