Job Summary
Our Client is looking for a Senior Staff Geoscientist for the subsurface development department to work operated and non-operated offshore deepwater fields. The candidate must have a demonstrated proficiency in constructing field models, interpreting 3D seismic data, and experience in well planning and drilling. They should have expertise in Petrel together with a deep understanding of geologic models for field development, resource/reserve estimation, and well trajectory planning.
The Senior Staff Geoscientist will have the ability to apply quantitative analysis techniques, such as paleogeography, sequence stratigraphy, geo-statistics, and risk analysis to identify and optimize development of infield hydrocarbon potential. Experience in building and modifying geological models to accommodate reservoir engineering history matching information is also required. The position requires a self-starter, comfortable in a fast-paced environment and shifting priorities.
The Senior Staff Geoscientist will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remotely.

Responsibilities

• Interpret seismic and well logs, generate maps and cross sections to create geological understandings for assigned fields and conduct risk and reserve/resource analyses

• Integrate data from different sources and construct geomodels in Petrel

• Create facies and petrophysical models using different methods and algorithms

• Perform well correlations, mapping and data analysis of different wells and sands

• Interface with reservoir engineers for reservoir simulation modeling

• Assess and recommend drilling of new wells and infill wells

• Present and make recommendations to management

• Predrill well preparation and planning. Interface with Drilling, Completions, Subsurface, Regulatory and Partners

• Provide operations support in drilling/rig program and update field results and reserves as needed

• Peer assist, collaboration both within the team and external support

• Understand Petroleum Systems, risking, and running field/prospect volumetrics

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or other geoscience discipline

• Minimum 10 years' experience in oil and gas exploration and development with minimum 4 years directly involved in static modeling and 3D seismic interpretation

• Experience in sedimentological and stratigraphic characterization of deepwater depositional systems, facies distribution and reservoir quality

• Expert in developing fit for purpose geological models using Petrel

• Experience in integrating core, pressure, fluid, paleo and seismic into geological frameworks and models

• Experience in developing depositional facies models

• Experience in volumetric analyses

• Experience in using seismic attributes in qualitative interpretation of sand distribution

• Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

• Experience with operational well planning and execution

• Strong verbal and written communication English skills

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

• Masters in Geology or other geoscience discipline

• Experience in Deepwater Miocene reservoirs preferred
