Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the implementation of all necessary measures and initiatives required by federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to environmental protection. Provides direction and is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of life safety initiatives, making recommendations for improvements as necessary.

  • Manage site environmental regulatory compliance, environmental permits, programs and procedures. This position performs a variety of work to ensure compliance through the explanation of permit terms and regulatory obligations and the determination of appropriate actions to assure conformance to current and new regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with fire marshals and safety inspectors to conduct thorough facility inspections and address any identified deficiencies.

  • Support operational activities as they pertain to environmental compliance and will support projects for environmental infrastructure needs.

  • Responsible for the compliance and continual improvement of environmental programs by applying and implementing requirements from a systematic perspective and integrating them into the site business culture.

  • Ensures compliance with all current environmental federal, state and local regulatory requirements. Hosts federal, state and local compliance inspections as needed.

  • Performs a wide range of environmental compliance duties across all media (air, water, waste, spill control, chemical management) including equipment and facility permitting, compliance auditing and management of change.

  • Manages the internal environmental compliance plan to address and drive corrective actions to completion.

  • Monitors emerging environmental federal/state/local regulations, assesses site impacts and develops strategies to proactively address to maintain compliance.

  • Partners and negotiates with federal, state and local officials as necessary to ensure environmental compliance while balancing business and operational needs.

  • Provides management with updates and escalation on environmental projects/programs.

  • Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) by providing technical guidance on environmental issues and contribute to the development of site-wide environmental standards and procedures.

  • Develops and trains employees on waste management.

  • Serves as client representative for one or more departments to support day to day client needs.

  • Collaborates and partners with internal stakeholders to provide input on equipment and process designs to manage potential environmental impacts.

  • Ensures environmental recordkeeping and data integrity to provide the business with accurate reporting and metrics to support environmental regulatory requirements and internal EHS initiatives.

  • Investigates and evaluates root causes for environmental incidents and near misses and maintains relevant data for driving strategic program decisions. Drives corrective and preventative actions to closure.

  • Provides support for emergency preparedness, response and business continuity as needed.

  • Conducts routine self-assessments and inspections to maintain environmental inspection readiness.

  • Develops and implements all required environmental training to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Applies appropriate best practices to identify and facilitate improvements to business processes, facilities and equipment including capital projects and management of change.

  • Collaborate with the site security team on security gaps and improvements.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge and/or education with The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 40 CFR - Protection of Environment

  • The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)

  • High degree of experience with Hazardous Waste

    • Satellite Accumulation Area (SAA's)

    • Central Accumulation Area's (CAA)

  • Experience with Universal Waste

  • Experience with Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC)

  • Experience with Process Wastewater

  • Experience with Chemical Compatibility and Segregation

  • Experience with Clean Air Act

    • Air Permit Management

  • Experience with Clean Water Act

  • Able to understand, interpret and provide guidance on local and State regulations (local municipality and Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP

  • Demonstrated experience preparing and submitting environmental permit applications and negotiating with regulators to maintain and balance compliance and operational flexibility.

  • Experience preparing and submitting timely environmental reports for air emissions, EPCRA, hazardous waste, spill control, industrial storm water, and wastewater discharges.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.

  • Strong leadership skills required. Able to make decisions and work independently with little to no direction.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and education equal to 4 years or a Bachelor's degree with concentration in environmental/engineering discipline areas

  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations

  • Demonstrated experience hosting federal, state, and local environmental compliance inspections.

  • Technical expertise in wastewater discharge compliance and operations preferred.

  • Ability to manage large and/or multiple projects and be able to work in a fast-paced environment desired. Ability to manage projects to support site environmental infrastructure needs preferred.

Our target base pay hiring range for this position is $100,000.00 - $137,500.00 per year. Actual base pay is dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate's geographical location, relevant experience, qualifications, skills and knowledge.
