The Role

Moderna is seeking a Senior System Engineer - SAP SD Intercompany to be based in Princeton, NJ. This role is an opportunity to lead the design, development, and deployment of SAP Intercompany solutions that support Moderna's global supply chain expansion across the US, EU, and AsiaPac.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SAP S/4HANA Advanced Intercompany (AIC), Advanced Return Management (ARM), Transfer Pricing, and Global Compliance, with a proven ability to independently drive projects from requirement gathering to solution delivery and go-live.

This is a high-visibility, hands-on role, where you will collaborate with Commercial, Finance, Supply Chain Planning, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Global Trade teams to design, implement, and optimize end-to-end SAP OTC and Intercompany processes, ensuring efficient and compliant global product flow across Moderna's intra and intercompany entities.

Here's What You'll Do
  • Lead the design and implementation of complex SAP Intercompany processes, including triangulation, transfer pricing, stock transfers, and intercompany sales across the US, EU, and AsiaPac regions.
  • Own and drive SAP Advanced Intercompany (AIC) and Advanced Return Management (ARM) configurations, ensuring seamless execution of multi-entity transactions, cross-border compliance, and global trade regulations.
  • Develop and execute a digital roadmap for SAP Intercompany, leveraging the latest S/4HANA capabilities to build scalable, automated, and efficient solutions.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders across Commercial, Finance, Tax, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Global Trade to define and optimize SAP Order to Cash (OTC) and Intercompany workflows.
  • Work independently to drive full lifecycle solution delivery - from requirement gathering and design to build, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.
  • Ensure compliance with global regulatory requirements (Intrastat, VAT, Transfer Pricing, and Trade Compliance) and align SAP solutions with international standards.
  • Provide technical leadership on SAP S/4HANA integration with FI/CO, IM, WM, MM, PP, IBP, and GTS, ensuring seamless intercompany transaction execution.
  • Design and configure SAP SD solutions to support 3PL/4PL logistics models, EDI integration., plants abroad functionality etc.
  • Lead SAP project implementations using Agile methodologies, working cross-functionally with developers, business analysts, and key stakeholders.
  • Stay ahead of SAP technology trends and proactively recommend enhancements, automation, and innovation opportunities.
  • Ensure GxP compliance for SAP solutions in regulated industries, authoring and reviewing Computer System Validation (CSV) documents as needed.
  • Provide training, documentation, and continuous improvement support, ensuring SAP users maximize the system's capabilities.
Here's What You'll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field, with 7+ years of hands-on SAP consulting or industry experience.
  • Minimum 3-4 full lifecycle SAP S/4HANA implementations with strong focus on Intercompany processes, Advanced Intercompany (AIC), and Special Functions.
  • Deep expertise in SAP SD Order to Cash (OTC) and Intercompany with hands-on experience in configuring Intercompany Sales, STOs, Triangulation, and Transfer Pricing.
  • Strong understanding of Intercompany financial flows, cross-border tax implications, and compliance requirements (Intrastat, VAT, and Global Trade Compliance).
  • Experience working independently, leading end-to-end SAP solution delivery from requirement gathering to go-live.
  • Proficiency in SAP SD integration with FI/CO, MM, WM, PP, IBP, and GTS, ensuring smooth intercompany and global trade operations.
  • Pharma, Life Sciences, or highly regulated industry experience preferred, with a strong understanding of GxP requirements.
Here's What You'll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Experience delivering projects using Agile Methodology
  • SAP S/4HANA experience
  • Proficiency with SAP and non-SAP integration with EDI, Manufacturing and logistics systems
  • Hands on experience with SD integration with Purchasing, Finance and Master data
  • Ability to understand business requirements, manage user stories and define, document, design & deliver SAP Configurations, and functional specifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate with business and technical people alike.
  • Excellent project management, analytical, communication and inter-personal skills
  • Quick learner. Demonstrate initiative and ownership.
  • SAP certification preferred.
  • Experience working with Pharmaceutical, Life Science, or highly regulated industry preferred.
  • Project management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task activities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and simultaneously organize work across multiple projects.
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity and a fast-paced, highly dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Be self-driven, willing to collaborate, think creatively, and drive tasks to completion with minimal oversight.
  • Self-directed with effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be able to drive results on multiple complex assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
