This role is for a senior engineer in our core systems biometrics team, focusing on development and maintenance of React applications. The ideal candidate will collaborate with UX teams to provide user interfaces for managing biometric devices. You will be part of the PACS (Physical Access Control Systems) business area, which includes smart cards, mobile access, identifications, software, services, and controllers for physical access control. This is a hybrid role based in Cardiff, UK, with a current hybrid working model allowing 2 remote days per week.

As our React Engineer, you will support HID's success by:
- Developing user interfaces for device screens and web pages hosted on devices
- Collaborating with designers, product managers, and developers to deliver excellent user experiences
- Contributing to code reviews and maintaining high code quality standards
- Communicating effectively in English, as the work is multinational
What we will love about your background:
- Proficiency in React JS, including React hooks for state and side effects management
- Experience with CSS, SCSS, and Tailwind CSS for responsive web design
- Experience with UI libraries like Radix UI or shadcn/ui for building scalable components
- Hands-on experience with Tanstack Query (React Query) for data management
- Knowledge of React Router for navigation
- Experience writing React unit tests
- Experience with end-to-end testing tools like Playwright or Cypress
- Understanding of testing principles
- Experience with REST API integration and third-party APIs
- Experience handling webhooks for real-time updates
- Knowledge of web performance optimization techniques
- Embedded development experience (useful but not required)
- C programming experience (useful but not required)
- Experience with Git and collaborative development tools
- Familiarity with agile practices and tools like Jira
Your Qualifications and Experience include:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of professional front-end development experience focusing on React JS
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Excellent communication skills and team collaboration abilities
- Legal eligibility to work in the UK
