MTSI is looking for a skilled Open Systems Architecture Software Engineer with a TS/SCI clearance (SAP eligibility) to support critical Air Force programs. You will work with the Air Force Lifecycle Center, Fighters and Advanced Aircraft Directorate, contributing to important projects at WPAFB, Ohio.

As an engineer in our Architectures and Systems Engineering Group, you will play a key role in generating software pipelines, reviewing code, and collaborating with consortiums to advance Government Reference Architectures. You will also provide essential guidance on software development practices to ensure secure, interoperable, and compliant architectures, all while working on-site with our customer.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a Software Engineer across various acquisition efforts, encompassing design, development, integration, testing, and deployment.
  • Define and implement open architectures.
  • Utilize modern commercial software development practices such as AGILE, Kanban, Git, Artifactory, Cucumber, Atlassian, Jenkins, etc.
  • Apply digital engineering best practices in implementing open architectures, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches.
  • Develop and evaluate RFP packages and technical documentation for new systems acquisition.
  • Collaborate with industry partners to resolve challenges in implementing open architectures.
  • Continuously enhance open architectures to meet evolving customer needs.
  • Prepare and present updates to senior leadership.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least 10 years of software development experience, with 2+ years in Special Access Programs within the last 4 years.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud software deployment.
  • Ability to apply modern software development practices and tools effectively.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C , Java, Python, or protobuf.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems, such as RedHat (RHEL), CentOS, etc.
  • Familiarity with container frameworks and orchestration tools like Kubernetes, Docker, etc.
  • Hands-on development and troubleshooting experience with embedded systems.
  • Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Motivated self-starter with a mission-oriented mindset.
Preferred:
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Top Secret security clearance with SCI and SAP eligibility is highly desirable at the start; candidates with Secret clearance (who can obtain a TS clearance) may still be considered.
  • Familiarity with open architecture vendor consortiums and design concepts.
  • Knowledge of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and related technologies.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering tools.
Clearance Requirements:
  • Must possess a Secret clearance to start, with the capability to obtain a TS with SCI and SAP eligibility.
Please Note: U.S. Citizenship is required. This role does not allow for telework and may involve up to 20% travel.
