About the Role: As a Senior Software Engineer on our Platform team, you'll have a profound impact on FERMÀT's growth trajectory by designing and building the foundational infrastructure that powers our entire commerce ecosystem. You'll play a pivotal role in transforming our platform architecture to support our rapid scaling, owning the core platform that powers our entire product, serving our external users (agencies, brand partners and self-serve customers) while enabling teams across the organization to build and ship features with greater speed and confidence. At this exciting inflection point, you'll help scale our backend platform to support an order of magnitude increase in brands, usage and products.
Your work will directly impact every engineering team at FERMÀT as they interact with and leverage the platform you build. You'll strike the perfect balance between shipping new capabilities quickly and establishing sustainable infrastructure that can handle our ambitious growth plans. This is a unique opportunity to shape the technical direction of our platform while creating intuitive, self-serve functionality that allows our customers to scale their experimental operations with minimal friction.
Responsibilities: - Design and implement scalable backend services powering our AI-driven personalization engine
- Lead critical infrastructure projects including payment processing system overhauls and API modernization
- Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions to ensure platform reliability
- Architect robust solutions for cart functionality, checkout flows, and offer management
- Develop and maintain integration points with ecommerce providers like Shopify
- Participate in the migration to modern fullstack JS frameworks to improve development efficiency
- Collaborate with product teams to transform manual processes into self-serve capabilities
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and customer-facing teams to ship critical features
Requirements: - Experienced with Go, Python, or other modern backend languages
- Proficient with distributed systems design and scaling microservices
- Strong understanding of API design principles and best practices
- Familiar with data warehouses and other storage systems(Relational databases, key-value stores, cloud buckets etc)
- Experienced with cloud infrastructure (preferably Google Cloud)
- Able to discuss and debate strategic engineering / product decisions
- Excited about learning and adopting new technologies
- Energized by startup momentum and takes ownership in transforming complex challenges into elegant solutions
Nice to haves: - Experience with GraphQL API design
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Previous work in eCommerce or adtech domains
- Experience with subscription-based payment models
