Shyft is working on the latest Air Force Weather contract at Offutt Air Force Base for software application development and sustainment, TADS. The TADS team is on a mission to become a leading DoD software factory by revitalizing Air Force Weather's capabilities using a DevSecOps approach. We are looking for engineers to join cross-functional teams where everyone is empowered and responsible for collaborating with our government customers to design and deliver valuable, mission-critical products. This project employs a wide variety of technologies from Python and Java back-end services to React and PHP based web applications. Software engineers are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications and CI/CD pipelines to deliver new capabilities quickly and securely.
TADS utilizes a hybrid work location approach where some days you will be required to work on-base at the 557th Weather Wing to communicate with the government customers, but other days you can choose to work-from-home or at our prime partner's office location. Additionally, this contract does maintain 24x7 operational support. Although it's only a few weeks per year, you will be asked to be on-call and that will require you to be within 1 hour of Offutt AFB.
Shyft is looking to add a few energized Software engineers to the TADS program. Please note: Due to the requirements of our government contract, candidates must be able to work on-site at least 60% of the time. Remote work opportunities may be limited.
Requirements
- 10+ years of programming experience (which can include time spent obtaining a CS degree)
- Ability to explain and justify important development decisions in a way that can be truly understood by all concerned
- Firm understanding of cyber-security principles
- Government Security Clearance (or ability to obtain)
Preference given to candidates with: - Experience with Agile development practices
- Experience implementing infrastructure as code
- Experience designing and developing cloud applications
