Position Summary

Join CVS Health as a technical advisor and role model to peers and clients in IBM i application development. Due to a promotion we are looking for a passionate technologist who enjoys being consultative to work with the broader Claims Adjudication team as an SME for modern RPG and IBMi SQL

This role is hybrid Tuesday through Thursday in Richardson, TX; Scottsdale, AZ or Buffalo Grove, IL

Within the IBM i application development area you will:
  • Partner with teams and serve as subject matter expert to provide bench-marked solutions to multiple, complex technical projects/initiatives using multiple interlocking technologies.
  • Establish and collaborate on execution of technical direction, standards, guidelines, and methodology for use of specified technologies.
  • Solve highly technical and complex problems for multiple projects or teams.
  • Educate technical staff on new and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate on strategic and enterprise-wide technical direction.
  • Create or revise operating procedures relating to specific technologies or IS processes.
  • Collaborate on Database Modernization efforts
  • Collaborate on Application Modernization efforts
  • Mentor and train Developers and other team members on Best Practices, New features, and Enhancements on IBM i platform
  • Provide Database and Architecture related services in a technical advisory role and work closely with teams to provide solutions.
Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience and a demonstrated deep understanding of IBM i technology and application development including the following:
  • 5+ years of experience with IBM i, iSeries, System i, AS400, AS/400 platform, i5/OS knowledge
  • 2+ years of experience leading concurrent technical projects on IBM i
  • 5+ years of application development experience in ILE RPG, RPG IV, CL, and DB2 for i SQL knowledge.
  • Maintain, Enhance, and Develop IBM DB2 for i databases. Develop and manage standards and best practices for SQL and DB2
Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of IBM i ILE concepts and implementations.
  • 3+ years of X-analysis, ALDON, or Hawkeye Experience
  • Experience with iDoctor Job Watcher, PEX, DBMON and other performance tools
  • Strong relational database design experience
  • Strong knowledge of IBM Access Client Solutions (ACS) for RUN SQL Scripts and SQL Performance Center. Able to assist project teams using Visual Explain charts for optimization of SQL statements used in application development solutions and SQL Production Change Requests (PCR) reviews
  • Strong knowledge of IBM Rational Developer for i (RDi) for application development, system management, including RDi Install support and upgrades.
  • Strong knowledge of IBM i Operating System, commands, and System APIs, with a proven record of optimizing application programs to maximize the usage of these system services.
  • Able to understand application code and write SQL statements for data conditioning and replace native file IO with SQL Set based processing.
  • Demonstrated successful completion of several medium to large scope projects; proficiency working on all phases of SDLC and with problem determination and resolution through research and fact finding.
  • Experience with RxClaim or other PBM Adjudication system
  • Knowledge of HA software and Replication Tools (DB2 Mirror, MIMIX, iTera, OMS, etc.)
  • Synon experience
  • Maintain, Enhance, and Develop IBM DB2 for i databases, as well as develop and manage standards and best practices for SQL and DB2

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$92,700.00 - $185,400.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
