Raytheon is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software engineer that would also perform Infrastructure duties with expertise in DevOps tools to join our Satellite Ground Systems team. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining the software infrastructure required for the operation and management of satellite ground systems, with a focus on automation, deployment, and monitoring.

This engineer would lead program infrastructure needs while also supporting software development enhancements and maintenance of an existing system.

Location: This is an onsite position in State College, PA

What you will do
  • This role involves close collaboration with systems engineers, hardware designers, and other software engineers to deliver reliable and high-performance software solutions. Other responsibilities to anticipate may include:
  • Point-of-contact for site personnel, site boards, etc. to ensure continued integrity of program-specific hardware infrastructure (may include travel).
  • Interface with Infrastructure Service Provider (ISP) to ensure continued integrity and needs for customer-provided hardware infrastructure.
  • Lead infrastructure efforts in the maintenance of the system's Authorization To Operate (ATO).
  • Interface with Information Assurance (IA) to ensure all IA requirements are met on time and/or to develop appropriate mitigation and action plans.
  • Maintain the integrity of operational, test, and development environments to include appropriate hardening of operating systems, supporting utilities, and tools.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of the software infrastructure by identifying and implementing enhancements and optimizations.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for the software infrastructure, including design documents, user manuals, and system administration guides.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide cross-functional teams while fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Must be able to motivate and align team members toward common goals and project milestones.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including written and verbal communication.
  • Presentation skills to effectively convey project status, risks, and solutions to senior leadership and customers.
  • Ability to articulate requirements, design details, testing procedures, and other technical content in a professional manner.
  • Lead customer and vendor discussions and planning regarding migration of the current system to be cloud-agnostic. This requires specific understanding of the current system's architecture, an assessment of the cloud readiness of each system component, and development of cost and/or other benefit analysis to be presented to the Customer. Improvements in architecture must be forward-looking to enable potential applicability of the system to support future associated customer missions.
  • This role involves close collaboration with systems engineers and other software engineers to deliver reliable and high-performance software solutions.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Active and transferable TS/SCI U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date with the adjudication date less than three years ago from your starting date for this position. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Software development experience in Java and at least one more of the following languages: C, C , JavaScript, Python
  • Scripting development experience (bash, etc.)
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification or ability to obtain within 3 months

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
