Senior Security Engineer
Our client, a Boston-based investment firm focused on technology-enabled companies, is hiring a Senior Security Engineer for a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days per week onsite. Reporting directly to the CISO, this position plays a key role in shaping and maintaining the firm's cybersecurity infrastructure. You'll collaborate with IT Infrastructure, Operations, and existing security team members to build a scalable and secure environment. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on security expertise and experience in regulated, high-trust industries such as finance, technology, or professional services.
Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain security solutions that protect infrastructure, systems, and data
- Manage tools including SASE, CSPM, MSSP, and email security platforms
- Lead regular assessments and testing to identify risks and drive remediation efforts
- Develop and enforce security policies and standards aligned with compliance requirements
- Monitor, investigate, and respond to security events and incidents
- Collaborate with internal teams and portfolio companies to integrate security best practices
- Research emerging threats and recommend improvements to strengthen security posture
- Support audits, compliance reviews, and investor due diligence processes
Requirements:
- Background in Computer Science, Information Security, or related discipline (degree or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience implementing and managing enterprise security programs
- Hands-on expertise in areas like network security, endpoint protection, cloud security, IAM, and encryption
- Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and regulations including GDPR or PCI DSS
- Experience using vulnerability management, SIEM, and incident response tools
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and act on complex challenges
- Clear communicator with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Able to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel occasionally to branch offices or data centers
