Senior Sales Executive - Air & Ocean Freight
Location: Austin, TX
Compensation: $120,000 to $160,000 base plus commission and annual performance bonus
Reporting: Direct to Branch Manager, dotted line to Regional Sales Director
Target Start: Immediate
Role Overview:
Own and grow a high-value sales portfolio for a leading global freight forwarder. Focus on securing net new logos and expanding wallet share across existing accounts in air and ocean verticals. Leverage established product, operational, and carrier partnerships to deliver end-to-end solutions for complex customer requirements in the Austin metro and Central Texas region.
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver year-on-year growth across both air and ocean freight services, focusing on net new business development and strategic account management
- Proactively identify, qualify, and close high-value opportunities in key verticals-technology, manufacturing, energy, and retail
- Lead customer meetings, present tailored solutions, and negotiate rates and contracts directly with shippers, BCOs, and procurement leads
- Develop and maintain a pipeline that consistently exceeds sales activity targets (minimum 15 face-to-face meetings and 40 outbound touches weekly)
- Respond to RFPs, coordinate with pricing and operations, and deliver accurate, competitive proposals within required timelines
- Track and report progress via CRM, maintain pipeline accuracy, and forecast revenue for management review
- Act as primary point of contact for high-value clients, ensuring seamless onboarding, operational support, and issue resolution
- Collaborate with branch and global teams to deliver integrated, multimodal solutions and optimize gross margin
- Monitor competitive landscape, provide actionable intelligence, and adjust go-to-market strategy as needed
- Represent the company at trade shows, networking events, and industry functions across Central Texas
Key Metrics:
- Annual GP target: To be defined by current portfolio and growth objectives
- New logo acquisitions: Minimum 20 per year
- Gross revenue generated: $8M+ annualized run rate
- Customer retention and upsell ratio
- Quote-to-close conversion rate
- CRM compliance and pipeline health
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of proven success in air and ocean freight forwarding sales, with quantifiable results
- Experience developing and winning business in the Austin and Central Texas market
- Demonstrated ability to secure, manage, and expand major accounts across multiple industry sectors
- Strong negotiation, solution selling, and presentation skills
- Deep understanding of international logistics, Incoterms, compliance, and supply chain processes
- High degree of self-motivation, accountability, and commercial acumen
- Proficiency in CRM and sales pipeline management tools
