SMX is seeking a Senior Release Train Engineer (RTE) to support the coordination and delivery of secure software release pipelines and capabilities for a Federal customer. This leadership role is central to enabling large-scale Agile delivery and operational support within a secure, IL5 AWS GovCloud environment. You will help manage team alignment, ensure synchronization of sprint goals, and maintain flow across DevSecOps teams delivering national mission capabilities. This position is a hybrid role supporting a Herndon, VA based team.

Essential Duties:
  • Lead the execution of Agile Release Trains (ARTs), ensuring alignment, visibility, and delivery across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate PI Planning, ART syncs, and system demos to track progress and resolve delivery impediments.
  • Partner with product managers, scrum masters, and engineering leads to synchronize dependencies and team objectives.
  • Monitor ART metrics, reporting on velocity, risks, and overall performance to stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement across ART processes and DevSecOps practices.
  • Ensure compliance with program objectives, cybersecurity standards, and delivery milestones across secure cloud environments.
  • Mentor and coach RTE and Agile roles in scaled Agile practices and best-in-class delivery standards.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • BA/BS degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, including Agile delivery and program management.
  • SAFe RTE certification.
  • Demonstrated experience leading Agile Release Trains with 5+ teams or complex programs.
  • Proven background in scaled Agile (e.g., SAFe) within secure, compliance-driven federal IT environments.
  • Proficiency in Agile tools like Jira, Confluence, and Agile dashboards.
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Secret clearance.
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Experience with DevSecOps pipelines, CI/CD tools, and cloud environments (AWS GovCloud).
  • Familiarity with RMF, STIGs, and secure SDLC practices.
  • Knowledge of government software acquisition and compliance cycles.

The proposed salary for this position is:

$123,800-$206,300 USD
