Our challenge

In this role, Candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust web applications and services using Python. Expertise in Flask, MongoDB, Kafka, and REST APIs will be critical in building scalable and efficient systems that meet needs.

Additional Information

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $100k - $110k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-quality web applications using Python and Flask.
  • Create and maintain RESTful APIs for seamless integration with Front End applications and external services.
  • Utilize MongoDB for efficient data storage, retrieval, and management, ensuring optimal database performance.
  • Implement and manage Kafka for Real Time data streaming and messaging, supporting event-driven architectures.
  • Collaborate with product managers, UI/UX designers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior developers in best practices.
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability while ensuring security and data protection.
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications, addressing issues promptly to maintain high availability and performance.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance our development practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in software development with a strong focus on Python.
  • Proven experience in developing web applications using Flask.
  • Strong expertise in MongoDB, including data modeling and performance tuning.
  • Experience with Kafka and knowledge of event-driven architecture.
  • Extensive experience in designing and building RESTful APIs.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is advantageous.
  • Proficient in using version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred, but not required

  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and related patterns.
  • Familiarity with Front End technologies (JavaScript, React, or Angular) is a plus.
