Job Summary
The Senior Project Manager- Construction handles the direction and implementation of a portfolio of construction and renovation projects, ensuring consistency with department strategy, commitments, and goals. You will lead and direct the progress of each project through the life cycle of the construction process. You will lead all aspects of including initial planning, scope development, procurement, contracting, construction, and closeout, maintaining leadership responsibility throughout the project life cycle. You will determine the project's goals, determine the appropriate partners, and oversee quality control while and manage the project budget. You will lead a team of Planners and Associate Project Managers.
You will report to the Manager of Programs.
Responsibilities: - Implement a portfolio of construction and renovation projects across the Walt Disney World Resort, working on unique and special facilities ranging from attractions to food and beverage, to merchandise shops, and numerous associate support facilities, buildings, and offices
- Prioritize and accomplish high-impact construction projects
- Train individuals on processes, provide mentorship, and professional development, and incorporate diversity within the team
- Handle the development and closeout of all aspects of a portfolio of sophisticated construction and renovation projects
- Understand projects risks and maintain accurate estimated final cost for financial reporting
- Understand the impact of the construction on the operating environment and make suggestions to lessen the operational impact and negotiate with operators to implement the job in the most efficient manner
- Develop bid strategies, determine scope of work, and provide administration of contracts
- Foresee issues based on historical precedence and mitigate known risk
- Coordinate the project timeline and establish project planning tasks to ensure schedule compliance
- Handle contract administration, issuance of field directives, evaluating submitted costs, conversion to change orders, acquiring management approval, accurate estimated final cost reporting, and job closeout
- Coordinate operational constraints and job goals
- Provide communication with partners, clients and management regarding project status, schedule, financial, and guest impacts
- Conduct presentations to executive partners
- Use project and contract management systems in the daily operation of the business.
Basic Qualifications: - 6+ years of experience in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management, or commercial facilities construction industry
- Knowledge of construction methods and the ability to interpret design drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of construction and project management processes, and purchasing/contract management
- Expertise with construction finance (budgets, cash flows, forecasting, risk, etc.)
- Experience presenting to Senior Leadership
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with external clients, internal partners, service providers, design professionals and contractors
- 3+ years of experience leading a team.
Required Education - Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management or related field
Preferred Education - MBA/Graduate Level Degree
- PMP certification
