Senior Project Designer for Electrical Engineering at an Architecture Firm Our client, GF, is an architecture, engineering, planning, interior design, landscape architecture, and development services firm that brings talents and teams from all over the world together to create structures, spaces, and experiences. They are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Project Designer to join their Electrical Engineering team. This role is responsible for the design and delivery of electrical systems, including lighting and mechanical systems, for retail and commercial buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering duties in planning and designing electrical systems, such as power distribution, lighting, and fire alarms for various structures and buildings.
- Assist in the design elements to complete project systems, components, or equipment, working with clear and specified objectives.
- Prepare complete project documentation, including plans, specifications, due diligence reports, and other necessary documents.
- Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of engineering work, managing multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects to ensure they stay within budget and are delivered on time.
- Interact and collaborate with clients, officials, contractors, and other project team members to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Correct and update drawings and assist the project team and other staff members as required.
- Ensure that company technical policies and procedures are practiced during the execution of projects for clients.
- Delegate work tasks to subordinate staff, monitor progress, and review delegated work for accuracy.
- Assist the Project Manager in coordinating project designs with other disciplines, including attending project meetings.
- Perform specific engineering studies, design analyses, and assist the Project Manager in establishing budgets, cost estimates, and project schedules.
- Review shop drawings, record changes, and communicate with suppliers, contractors, and client representatives as required.
- Perform on-site inspections as necessary.
- Develop one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and short circuit calculations.
- Develop lighting plans and perform photometric calculations.
- Layout fire alarm devices and understand low voltage devices.
- Prepare electrical drawings using designers or drafters and develop specifications.
- Coordinate design with vendor-supplied equipment and prepare equipment layouts and general arrangements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelors or masters degree in electrical engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering design.
- PE license or availability to acquire one is required.
- Strong and versatile building design and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PowerPoint, MS Word, and MS Excel.
- Proficiency with electrical engineering software such as SKM, AGI, and Visual.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of project development, including construction of retail and commercial buildings.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and conscientious.
