Description
Senior Project Accountant Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the project team to review payables, including subcontracts, purchase agreements, contracts, and change orders.
- Contact and coordinate with stakeholders to request and follow up on project payout details and receivables.
- Generate progress billings for projects using various methods, including supporting documentation such as transaction, cost, and certified payroll reports.
- Compile, review, and send complete billing packages, including invoices, sworn statements, lien waivers, AIA forms, and any owner-required documents.
- Receive, verify, and process monthly invoices from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring timely and accurate accrual to the correct cost reports and phase codes.
- Create voucher slips with relevant details like cost codes, vendor numbers, and net amounts for entry.
- Post finalized billings upon receiving approval from the Owner or Project Manager.
- Monitor and report insurance costs to the Accounting department along with monthly billings.
- Make follow-up calls to vendors and subcontractors as needed to resolve outstanding issues.
- Gather, review, and distribute subcontractor lien waivers and supporting documentation for payments.
- Maintain professional and prompt communication with clients and subcontractors.
- Oversee project accounting activities across multiple projects.
- Perform additional project accounting duties as assigned.
Profile
A successful Senior Project Accountant should have:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 6+ years of accounting experience in the construction industry
- Proficiency in financial software systems
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills
