Senior Project Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the project team to review payables, including subcontracts, purchase agreements, contracts, and change orders.
  • Contact and coordinate with stakeholders to request and follow up on project payout details and receivables.
  • Generate progress billings for projects using various methods, including supporting documentation such as transaction, cost, and certified payroll reports.
  • Compile, review, and send complete billing packages, including invoices, sworn statements, lien waivers, AIA forms, and any owner-required documents.
  • Receive, verify, and process monthly invoices from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring timely and accurate accrual to the correct cost reports and phase codes.
  • Create voucher slips with relevant details like cost codes, vendor numbers, and net amounts for entry.
  • Post finalized billings upon receiving approval from the Owner or Project Manager.
  • Monitor and report insurance costs to the Accounting department along with monthly billings.
  • Make follow-up calls to vendors and subcontractors as needed to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Gather, review, and distribute subcontractor lien waivers and supporting documentation for payments.
  • Maintain professional and prompt communication with clients and subcontractors.
  • Oversee project accounting activities across multiple projects.
  • Perform additional project accounting duties as assigned.

Profile

A successful Senior Project Accountant should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 6+ years of accounting experience in the construction industry
  • Proficiency in financial software systems
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills
