Position Summary
The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education and exhibition.

The Information Technology department is seeking an experienced Senior Programmer to support, manage and update various AMNH enterprise financial management and HR systems.

The Senior Programmer should have knowledge of Finance and HR business process and a strong interest in and a willingness to learn new technologies. Key qualities for success in this role include an attention to detail, being collaborative, communication skills, curiosity about how AMNH IT products work and support the Museum's mission and feeling comfortable working independently/in teams/with non-technical partners. This position works onsite at the Museum.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate with Museum partners to identify requirements and design, develop and implement programmatic solutions that support business processes.
  • Customize, support and maintain Oracle and other enterprise applications.
  • Design and develop integrations (APIs, ETLs) to streamline processes and enhance interoperability.
  • Build, manage and update reports and utilities for data reporting and analytics across the enterprise.
  • Provide technical support for business issues.
  • Support the IT team with project design and planning.
  • Develop detailed technical specification documents.
  • Research and recommend new technologies.
The expected salary range for the Senior Programmer is $130,000/annual - $150,000/annual. The AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.

Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of related work experience, including expertise in ERP, enterprise system management, Oracle integrations and system management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and technical expertise in enterprise relational databases, including coding with these databases, ERP and HRIS systems.
  • Proficiency in PL/SQL, SQL and shell scripts.
  • Multi-year experience with other programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) and the ability to learn new programming languages as needed.
  • Strong knowledge of integration technologies and methodologies (APIs, ETL).
  • Expertise in Oracle APEX and Oracle forms and reports.
  • Through understanding of enterprise application lifecycle management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or related professional certification(s).
  • Knowledge of modern data analytics platforms and the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence in analytics.
  • Experience working with Oracle Fusion.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to move about the Museum campus.
  • Positioning/change of positioning: Must be able to frequently position oneself/body to accomplish job duties.
    • Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling.
    • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
